How to Choose a Forklift Fork Clamp
A fork clamp handles fork-supported loads and palletless loads by clamping. Confirm fork-handling capacity and clamping capacity separately.
Ask ForkFocus About This Load
Fork handling or palletless clamping?
| Fork-supported handling | Palletless clamping |
|---|---|
| Check fork length, section, spacing and pallet openings. | Check opening range, clamping contact surfaces and packaging sensitivity. |
| The forks must support the load securely. | Confirm allowable clamping pressure and secure load retention. |
| Confirm the fork-handling rating. | Confirm the clamping-mode rating separately. |
For fork spacing adjustment without clamping, use a fork positioner. For cartons or appliances, discuss a carton clamp with suitable contact pads and clamping pressure. If the load cannot withstand clamping pressure, use pallet-supported handling.

This configuration adds rotation. Rotation is not implied for every fork clamp; confirm the functions needed for your load. Watch on YouTube.
Need side shift or rotation as well?

2 — Hydraulic cylinders: fork opening and closing.
Specify side shift or rotation separately for truck hydraulic and control checks.
Specify the movement you need before the installation is selected.
- Hydraulic control: ForkFocus matches the requested functions to the available hydraulic circuits. A solenoid valve or other control arrangement may be needed.
- Fit: confirm carriage, mounting, pressure, flow and clearance for moving forks and hoses.
- Capacity: both the attachment rating for the selected handling mode and the truck’s remaining capacity must suit the load.
