Pay attention to your forklift capacity plate. That will give you a better idea of the weight that your forklift can safely carry.

In 2003, it was made illegal for forklift owners to use a diesel forklift weighing up to 4 tons indoors. Diesel forklifts release fumes that can be hazardous to health if inhaled repeatedly and would trigger smoke alarms, especially in enclosed areas. It is also noisier compared to its gas or electric counterparts.

    2. Tires
    3. Oil levels
  2. Make sure your forks are straight and no fractures.
  3. Test your breaks.
  4. All signal lights, the horn, and the steering wheel should work.
  5. Remove all obstructions on the way.

What is a fulcrum point in a forklift?

The purpose of the forklift is to carry and transport heavy loads. When the forklift tries to lift cargo, it puts pressure on the front part of the truck. The forklift needs to find a balance for it not to tip over. The balance on the counterweight and the load is what the fulcrum point is.

What is the standard height of a forklift?

Forklifts stand between 10 to 15 ft. But in terms of reach, forklifts can lift as high as 55 ft, depending on the forklift truck handler you use.

How high should forks be when driving a forklift?

Keep in mind that when your forklift is with a load, it is heavy on the front, and forks should maintain around 6 to 10 inches above ground distance, especially while in transit.

How to transport a forklift in a trailer

Transporting a large vehicle like a forklift can be complicated. It is better and safer if you hire professionals to do it. They have insurance, the right tools, and skills. It can prove to be cheaper, too. But if you are in a situation where you are unable to call professionals, you must take note of the following steps:

  1. Make sure you have insurance so if anything goes wrong, it is covered.
  2. You need to know the exact measurements of your forklift to determine the right trailer for the transport.
  3. The weight of your forklift matters, too. The trailer that you will use to transport a forklift must be able to withstand the travel distance.
  4. When you transport a forklift into the trailer, the fork should be facing the back of the trailer.
  5. If you plan to use chains to secure the forklift, the chains should be able to handle its size.
  6. The forklift should be in the center of the trailer. Forks need to be lowered on the floor and slightly tilted.
  7. Secure the wheels with blocks to keep them in place.
  8. Turn off the fuel and secure the tank to avoid leakage.

In short, every detail about your forklift and trailer should be accounted for, and the number one thing is to ensure your forklift is tight and secure in your trailer.

The Center of Gravity of a forklift is the point where all the weight is distributed evenly so that balance is achieved. There are a lot of factors that affect the center of gravity of a forklift, and once that balance is lost, it can result in your forklift tipping forward damaging the load and can cause injury to the operator and others. We have this artical purticularly for this :  Do you really understand forklift load center? Check out it now!

Why do forklifts have two brake pedals?

Every forklift is equipped with three pedals– Accelerator, Brake, and Inching Brake.

The brake pedal is for stopping the vehicle from moving, just like how a brake pedal functions for other automotive vehicles.

The Inching Brake is a special function for forklifts. The inching brake has two functions- the first thing it does is act as a brake, the second is to disengage the transmission, to give more control over the speed (increase or decrease) of the engine without affecting the drive of the forklift.

Can a propane forklift run on gasoline

Gasoline forklift can only work with gasoline. Propane forklift can only work with liquid propane. But there is another type of dual fuel gasoline/liquid propane forklift that can work with both fuel.

LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) Forklifts or gas forklifts are forklifts that do not need batteries or recharging equipment as they run on LPG. A lot of businesses prefer this because it can maintain its power throughout the day. It is also suitable for both indoor and outdoor work. Replacing the canister is also easy when it runs out so downtime is minimal.

Do forklifts use lpg or propane gas?

Yes, forklifts with internal combustion have fuel options such as LPG, diesel, or gasoline. Choosing between the three depends on the budget, use, and availability of the fuel.

Forklifts powered by propane or LPG use hydraulics. Hydraulics is a system of tubes, pumps, and cylinders. The pump is responsible for triggering the flow of the hydraulic fluid to the tubes and into the cylinders which ultimately push the piston. The movement of the piston triggers the forks of the vehicle to raise, enabling the forks from lifting heavy loads.

This depends on the exact configurations you need for your forklift, also directly related with engine. Contact our forklift expert for an solid quote.

All vehicles need to meet the EPA emission requirements. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Emission Standards establish the emission standards for engines and vehicles like greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and other air pollution emitted by motors and vehicles.

Based on government regulations, there should be restrictions in place for air pollutant emissions, especially on specific areas or processes.

The regulation places limits on glasses, vapors, and particulates being discharged during the process.

Forklift trucks are traditionally powered by either diesel, LPG, or electricity (via battery).

In the past, diesel was highly favored due to its durability. But now, a lot of forklift manufacturers are switching from diesel to LPG for several reasons:

  1. It’s cheaper than its diesel counterpart and much so than electric ones.

  2. LPG, compared to diesel, is a cleaner-burning fuel and emits fewer PM10 particles (linked to respiratory problems), and is safer to use in the workplace. It poses an advantage to industries like food & beverages, textiles, and pharmaceuticals.

  3. LPG is also always available, and there is consistent supply all year round, unlike electric trucks that are highly dependent on electric supply, which is admittedly not available to some parts of other countries.

  4. The power-to-weight ratio of LPG is also better and proven to adapt to any working conditions as it is more responsive to engines.

  5. It can be used for both indoor and outdoor work.
