FAQs for forklift attachment
Forklifts are tools used in a warehouse or other facilities that have materials/loads/products that need to be lifted, stacked, or transported over short distances. It’s essential equipment to help increase the productivity and efficiency of the work done. But forklift attachments are also a helpful component of forklift. One of the most important uses of the attachments is to move, lift and transport specific materials to avoid damage and potential injury.
There are a lot of attachments available, and we will delve into each one of them to help you choose the right attachment for the work you need to do. Picking the correct forklift attachment will help increase productivity, cut costs, and keep your goods damage-free.
But first, you need to understand the effect of using an attachment on your forklift.
We discussed in our previous blog :
– How to Rate the Capacity of Forklifts Correctly?
– Understanding Forklift Center.
– What Happens When Weight Capacity is Increased)
that forklifts come with a plate that indicates their lifting capacity, among other information. It’s important to note this information as attachments affect the capacity of the forklift. When you put an attachment on your forklift, it shifts the load center of your forklift, and since the attachment has a weight of its own, it will exhaust some of your forklift’s capacity.
Just remember, with any attachment you use, you need to have accurate information from the plate. Multiple attachments will also require you to have multiple data tags for your forklift.
The Side Shifter is a mechanism on a forklift that allows the driver to navigate load side-to-side in a lateral movement, moving +/- 100mm or +/- 150mm. One of the advantages of using the side shifter is moving the load without having to move the truck, especially in tight environments, improving its flexibility. It is widely used in stacking and loading goods in factories, agriculture, construction, and warehouses.
The Fork Positioner attachment is for diesel and electric forklifts. The width and distance of the forks can be adjusted by the operator using control levers, depending on the size and weight of the load it needs to carry. It’s very useful to transport loads that vary in size. It can be installed in any type of forklift and is widely used in paper handling, agriculture, food and beverage, and construction industries.
The Paper Roll Clamps are designed specifically for damage-free roll handling. The various types of clamps can handle rolls of different paper types, diameters, sizes, and weights without any pallet involved. It is made from steel and can handle up to 2000KG weight and a roll range of 350-1600mm. It is very useful in the paper handling industry, warehouses, and factories.
- Push/Pull Attachment
Forklift Push/Pull Attachment supports goods loaded on slip sheets rather than pallets which can be cheaper. It protects loads from damage and ensures secure and safe handling. The push action is powered by hydraulic and the other movement is for pulling that’s why it’s very useful for cargo loading and discharging. It’s commonly used in industries like construction, food, and beverages, just to name a few.
The Single Double Pallet handler, also called a double pallet forklift can act as one full set of forks or double sets of forks. It can be used in narrow areas and can expand for a fuller and wider load. The forks can separate and are powered by hydraulic cylinders which makes them suited for various-sized pallets. The forks can spread and side shift, depending on the request. Industries that carry beverages like soft drinks, bottled water, and other materials like bricks, stone, and tiles heavily rely on this attachment.
- Fork extensions
The Forklift fork is the dream team for carrying heavier and longer load that is beyond the capacity of your forklift, depending on the size and length. It will make the lifting and moving of bulky materials easier and safer. It is great for handling loads and materials in warehouses, factories, and plants.
The Forklift Rotator Attachment is for handling materials that need to be dumped or rotated. The Forklift Rotator offers 360 rotation, which offers movement in any direction. With this attachment, the operator can efficiently rotate loads for dumping and tipping. The rotator is particularly popular in different industries like manufacturing, automotive, agricultural, recycling, and plastic for its function.
What is a Forklift Hitch?
A hitch is an attachment used on a forklift to convert it to handle the moving of different hitch equipment like goosenecks, pintles, and ball hitches. Unlike a single fork method, the hitch has more control on the swing, and it doesn’t have the typical fork sag problem.
